Not to be outdone by our printer friends to the east in Grand Forks, MSU is thankful to receive a "new" Chandler & Price Gordon Jobber letter press. Thanks to a friendship through longtime MSU faculty Walter Piehl, this press was donated to the department. While it needs some work to get it up and running, we are excited about how it might fit into our curriculum and the future of Flat Tail Press.

A special thank you to the MSU maintenance department who managed to squeeze it in to Hartnett Hall, up the elevator, and into the printmaking studio!

FTP directors, Jessica Christy and Ryan Stander studied at the University of North Dakota while in graduate school, but they never had anything like this when they were there. Professor Kim Fink, and director of Sundog Multiples at UND recently bought and restored a 19th Century Brisset Star Wheel litho press. We hope they let us come play sometime soon. We are up and running...sort of. This fall, thanks to the generosity of Minot State University, the art department has created Flat Tail Press as a hands-on printmaking experience for our students. This website will feature the work they do with visiting artists. Our goal is to keep this space updated with our current and upcoming projects and who is working on them. Stay tuned!
