We are thrilled to welcome Nicole Pietrantoni as FTP’s first guest for Darwin Day on February 13 and14. Nicole is a good friend of MSU Instructor Micah Bloom from their days in the graduate program of University of Iowa.

Nicole and FTP will produce “A Glitch in the Matrix: Variation and the Evolving Print.”  The project will be a full sheet, CMYK separation screen print. CMYK process is a color printing process with four subtractive colors (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black).  Nicole’s artworks show her unique approach to printmaking often leaning toward installations.  She utilizes lights to project images on plexiglass to walls; however, these are very different from the silk-screen project we are working on for Darwin Day. That makes it more exciting to produce silk-screen art pieces with her! We will be printing at 10-12, and 1-3 on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.

Nicole also will presenting a lecture “Spectacular Landscapes: Ghosting the Natural World” at noon in Aleshire Theatre, Hartnett Hall. The lecture will cover the evolution of prints and their changing forms and concepts.  Out studios will be open while we are working on the print so please come join us for all the excitement!!!!

See her wonderful work here.
